Bjork – Triumph of a Heart (video)
August 19th, 2009 . by JillyBack in May I travelled through Denmark and Iceland. My Icelandic friend Sandra played me the video for Bjork’s “Triumph of a Heart” and explained to me that the club they filmed this video at is in Reykjavik and its called Sirkus. It was one of Sandra’s favorite spots to hang out at until it recently closed down.
This video was directed by Spike Jonze, who also directed the video for “It’s Oh So Quiet“. In the video, Björk tires of her husband, played by a housecat, and storms out of the house for a night out on the town. She goes to a pub where the soundtrack stops and the locals (including beatboxer Dokaka) join her for a special performance of the song recorded for the video. She eventually returns back home and rekindles her affections for her cat-husband.
I secretly suspect that Sandra was trying to cheer me up with this video.
I can’t decide if its so silly that its bordering on ridiculous or if she’s a genius that doesn’t care what other people think about her work.
It did cheer me up and the beat-boxing is fantastic.
