Its Janet…Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty
August 19th, 2009 . by JillyYesterday morning I went to Lou’s Records and bought a copy of Janet Jackson’s Best of Album in the used section for $2.99 . As I listened to it, I remembered how much 7-year-old Jill really dug the video for “Nasty”. And why wouldn’t I? There’s great dancing, a strong woman, and the words are fantastic.
I don’t like no nasty girl
I don’t like nasty food
The only nasty thing I like
Is a nasty groove
Will this one do?
Look for Paula Abdul (who choreographed this video) around the 3:30 mark. This is the Paula that I prefer to remember. This is the woman that taught the Jacksons some dance moves.
Twelve-year-old Jill was so impressed by Paula’s video for “Rush, Rush”. The stylings in this video were inspired by Rebel Without a Cause with Paula as Natalie Wood and Keanu Reeves as James Dean. I thought this video was so romantic, poetic, and deep. I’d never even seen Rebel. Thirty-year-old Jill still really digs this video. Again, this is the Paula I prefer to remember.
