Felt Club and Kwik-E-Mart

On Sunday I went to the Felt Club craft fair up in Hollywood. I found some unique shirts and bags at Boy Girl Party and Poketo and I also found a few new vendors that I don’t think were there last year (Social Studies Design and Posy Press).

Felt Club has definitely outgrown the Ukranian Cultural Center. It was way too hot and crowded in there. Felt Club plans to hold their next event in November at a larger venue with air conditioning.

After we had our fill of Felt Club, we headed over to the Getty Center. I love that place! The architecture and the views are insane. Right now the Getty Center is hosting Summer Sessions, three Saturday nights of concerts.

We ended our day at the Kwik-E-Mart. Twelve 7/11’s in the U.S. have been converted to Kwik-E-Marts to promote the opening of the Simpsons movie, which comes out on July 27th. I waited in the half hour line with all of the other Simspon fanatics and got my squishee.

Felt Club News

March 13th, 2007 . by Jilly

Last year I experienced the indie craft goodness that is the Felt Club. Last year they were holding it on a monthly basis. A good amount of people showed up and supported their December super-sized Felt Club, so they’ve decided to do this just twice a year. The next two Felt Clubs will be July 15 and November 18.

They’re also trying to raise some money, since they got dinged the last time for having flyers up where they shouldn’t be. So they’re putting up an array of craft items donated by various Felt Club members on eBay here, here, and here.

Slowly Unravels in a Ball of Yarn

I went to the Felt Club, two weekends ago. Its a monthly indie arts and crafts fair, where local craftsters sell their goods. I was overwhelmed by the volume of such interesting things they had. I was so happy that there were so many people that felt as stoked about the Felt Club as I did.

A lot of the items looks familiar, because I had seen them on Etsy and Cut and Paste before. Here are a couple of the Felt Club crafters’ websites…

aguiniga design, Boy Girl Party, Poketo, Chebang!, Catia Chien, and here’s all of the other FC vendors.

New Magazine from Make: Craft

April 26th, 2006 . by Jilly

I just read on Boing Boing…

From the makers of MAKE — CRAFT, a new magazine devoted making cool stuff. It’s launching in Fall 2006.

I had a subscription to MAKE magazine and I never had the skills or the tools to build/modify things like their projects. But maybe because this one is crafty, it might have some real fun projects.

She’s Crafty

So what are you guys up to this weekend? I’m going over my sister’s house tonight and we’re gonna do stencils on her luggage. I’ve already done stencils on my luggage, and its definitely helped me save time and stress at the airport baggage claim. I’ve done a meeple, the Aphex Twin symbol, and the Radiohead bear on my suitcases. Craftster has some good tutorials on stenciling and so does Stencilry.

I got to wondering if Quinton has made any new stencils lately? Quinton had some cool ones - a Sigur Ros one and a nice Ray Charles one.

Calling all Knitters

January 2nd, 2006 . by Jilly

Its seems like everyone and their mother is knitting these days. My sister, Sommer, just gave me a chunky blue scarf that she knitted. My mom is constantly making blankets and scarves. I’m sure somewhere on Crafsters there’s a tutorial for this.

What I want to know is there anyone out there that can make me either this…

Or this…
