January 18th, 2008 . by JillyCorey Delaney (16) of Melbourne, Australia decided to throw a little party while his parent were out of town. What started as having a few mates over, turned into a party with over 500 people and a riot in the neighborhood. Here’s an interview with him after the fact…

Aussie Gold
November 21st, 2007 . by nathanHi guys…. I get the feeling I’m the first Aussie to post on the blog… SO I’m introducing a little segment called AUSSIE GOLD
I was amazed… (well not really) at how little Australian music you guys knew of (besides AC/DC)… So I will be posting some Aussie classics….. They are pretty hard to find… .and my first choice is Cold Chisel………..
Saturday Night…. An absolute classic…. a song that every aussie knows… and a pretty decent one (rare?)…
Cold Chisel - Saturday Night (1984)
Jimmy Barnes is the singer…. The one that screams.. and bursts blood vessils in his head…… Ian Moss is the other singer that sounds a little like a girl… I reckon he sounds pretty good….. He is also the lead guitarist….
Cold Chisel - Cheap Wine (1980)
Ahhhhhh nice….

Their new album Moo, You Bloody Choir is now available in the U.S.
Thisisthelast presents… Augie March!!!
August 10th, 2007 . by Jilly
Augie March formed in Melbourne, Australia about 10 years ago. They write emotional music, not emo, but kinda like Radiohead in “The Bends” era. Their first full-length album, Sunset Studies, was released in mid-2000 to excellent reviews and public support, hovering in the Australian music charts.
Their third album Moo, You Bloody Choir was released in Australia in 2006 after much delay. They thought that it might not ever get an international release (Sony lags). However, it was finally released in the U.S. this week.
If it wasn’t for my Aussie friends telling me how “brilliant” they are, I probably would’ve never discovered this intense, sincere band. They will be performing on Late Night with Craig Ferguson on August 17th.

New Beirut Video - “Elephant Gun”
April 30th, 2007 . by JillyHere’s the new video for Beirut’s “Elephant Gun” off of the Lon Gisland EP. It kind of has a quirky, racey, Moulin Rougey-ness feel to it. You’ll probably love it or hate it.
Today my friends are going back to Australia. Daniel and Michelle’s wedding was yesterday. Congratulations guys!!! I have been having such a nice time being a tourist in my own town.

This Is The Last Cheer Me Up You’ll Ever Hear From Me
March 20th, 2007 . by Quinton
Sally Seltmann calls herself New Buffalo when she performs music. She’s got a new single entitled ‘Cheering Me Up Thank You’ that feels like it should be four minutes longer and fulfills exactly what the title promises. The video has recently been put up on the New Buffalo myspace page. It’s charming and believable and it’ll make your day.
New Buffalo have a new album to go along with the single, which was recorded and produced on a piano in a shed in her own backyard. It’ll be available in Australia on March 24th. It’s called ‘Somewhere, anywhere’.
I’m sure that marriage has made me soft, but this is probably the happiest song I’ve ever liked.
Congratulations Quinton and Anna!!!!
February 6th, 2007 . by JillyQuinton and Anna tied the knot on Saturday. Its so awesome that these two nice people have found eachother and make eachother so happy.

The reception was in the Argyle Wine Cellars. They hired a gypsy folk band to play for a little bit at the reception. For their first dance, they danced to the Grizzly Bear’s “Knife” and for the dance with the parents they did Nick Cave’s cover of the Gene Pitney song “Somethings Gotten Hold of my Heart”. After that, it was a whole lot of Greek music.

Congratulations guys!!!!

We couldn’t be happier for you two.
