Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova for Best Original Song.
“Falling Slowly” from the movie Once. Pitchfork has a really nice post-Oscar interview with them here. This song gives me goosebumps.
Diablo Cody for Best Original Screenplay for “Juno.

I know this song has been covered to death, but I couldn’t help but post this piano-driven cover done by Taken by Trees.
I know you’ll like it too. Check it out here.

Amplive made a remix of Radiohead’s In Rainbows album. On December 18 they received a cease and desist letter, because they didn’t ask for permission. Yesterday it was announced that the parties met and Radiohead gave them permission to release the album for free.
Rainydayz Remixes features Too $hort, MC Zumbi of Zion I, Chali2na of Jurassic 5, Codany Holiday, and Del The Funky Homosapien. You know its gonna be dope.
You can download the whole album here. My only complaint is that the album is too short.

If you tune in tomorrow to NPR’s All Songs Considered you will find Thom Yorke as the guest DJ. He will be chatting with host Bob Boilen about In Rainbows, The Eraser, and how the Radiohead frontman goes about discovering new music.
If you’re not sure what time All Songs Considered is airing in your area, you can check your local listings here. If you happen to miss the show, you will be able to download the podcast tomorrow afternoon here.

Thisisthelast has a whole lot of love for People in Planes. People in Planes is an Indie Rock band from Cardiff, Wales. Their new album is set to be released this summer. According to their record company, “Beyond the Horizon” is the working title of the album, but that could be subject to change at any moment. Stay tuned.
Here’s what the band had to say about it…
Hey people. I hereby declare People In Planes are back! Our new project was recorded with four different producers in six studios across Wales, England and America, and we’ve put our entire souls into it. It’s been a long wait for all of us, and we’re really excited to present this first track to you- “Pretty Buildings”.
–Gareth, Peter, Kris, John and Ian
“Pretty Buildings” is the first track of the new album and is available here and here. I can’t wait to hear the rest of this album.

This is a story of a brilliantly funny show with low ratings, the loyalest fanbase ever, cut short in its prime. I still mourn the loss of that clever show.
The last episode of the series ended with Maeby pitching her family’s story to Ron Howard, who said:”I just don’t see it as a TV series. Maybe a movie?”
Jason Bateman has confirmed that there’s been talk of the possibility of a movie amongst the creators and the cast…
“I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started,” Bateman told Dos Santos. “Any talk is targeting a post-strike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it’s a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed.”

E! Online also reports that…”while creator Mitch Hurwitz does not yet have a script, he has a good, solid understanding of what he’d like to do for the movie, and Universal is very much interested.”
While nothing has been confirmed, this would be fantastic. COME ON!!!!!
What would you like to see in the movie?
Cat Power and Radiohead performed on the 200th episode of Later…with Jools Holland this week.
Her is the lovely Miss Chan Marshall performing a cover of Sinatra’s “New York, New York”. I normally HATE this song, but she turned it in to something beautiful and sultry.
And here’s Radiohead doing “House of Cards”.
