Paris Je’Taime is 18 short stories, all about love, all taking place in Paris. Normally, I think that the whole “Paris is for lovers” is kinda played out, but I think this is a fresh approach.
Each story is directed by someone different ranging from Wes Craven to the Coen Brothers, to Gus Van Sant. The movie stars French, American, and British actors (Nick Nolte,Bob Hoskins, Natalie Portman, Gérard Depardieu, Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe, Steve Buscemi, Maggie Gyllenhaal). Right now its only playing at limited locations. Check your local listings.
Here is the short story directed by the Coen Brothers starring Steve Buscemi as an American tourist…
I guess if you don’t like the story you’re watching, you just wait five minutes.
I think this is so awesome. Apparently there has been a recent trend of knitters getting together and knitting things around public property. There’s a group called Masquerade (who are out of Stockholm, Sweden) and another one called Knitta, Please (from Houston, TX).
What Knitta does, in their own words…
A tag crew of knitters, bombing the inner city with vibrant, stitched works of art, wrapped around everything from beer bottles on easy nights to public monuments and utility poles on more ambitious outings.
First, I’m going to learn how to knit. Then, we need to start a San Diego chapter of Knitta. Who’s with me?
I read yesterday that Michael Moore is going to be on Oprah this week, promoting his new movie entitled ‘Sicko‘. Moore’s goal with this movie is to help change the U.S. healthcare system for the better.
Here is an excerpt from Moore’s site about his solution…
Rip it apart, give the federal government control, creating a single-payer system that takes for-profit insurance companies out of the equation and regulates pharmaceutical companies “like utilities since they’re just as important as electricity and water.”
Most people either love Michael Moore or hate him. I have to say that Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11 were two movies that really made an impression on me.
I fell in love with Portugal. The Man last year. I couldn’t stop listening to ‘Waiter: You Vultures‘. I was really excited to read that Portugal. The Man’s new album, Church Mouth, is due to be released on July 24th and they will be touring this summer. This is the best music to ever come out of Alaska (via Portland).
They will be touring with Russian Circles, Tera Melos(math rock with lots of jazz influence), and Photo Atlas. Russian Circles reminded me of Mogwai meets Explosions in the Sky.
