Science of Sleep and Marie Antoinette

The Science of Sleep is a new movie starring Gael Garcia Bernal. I’m really excited to see this one. Its directed by Michael Gondry, who also directed Eternal Sunshine. Following the death of his father, a shy young man moves to Paris to get closer to his widowed mother. He starts working at a boring calendar-making firm and he falls in love with his neighbor. He escapes into a dream world, that starts bleeding over into his real life.

Here’s a link to the movie trailer. Its being released in major cities September 22, and all other cities September 29.

Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is coming out October 20. I read a nice interview with Coppola in Filter Magazine about this movie. Coppola retells the story of Marie Antoinette who married Louis XVI at the age of 15 and who was beheaded at the height of the French Revolution. She was this kid that was thrown into this crazy situation that she wasn’t prepared for. There’s a lot of myths about Antoinette’s life and Coppola wanted to take no liberties with the story; she wanted it to be totally accurate. The movie stars Kirsten Dunst, Jason Schwartzman (of Rushmore), and Molly Shannon. The soundtrack is heavy on the new wave (New Order, Bow Wow Wow, Adam Ant).

Here’s
the trailer for Marie Antoinette. Will it be as good as Lost in Translation? I hope so.

My boss went to a Seattle film festival that was sponsered by Nokia. He got a free ticket to see the Science of Sleep. He said it was a “crazy” movie and that really wasn’t his deal but he highly recommended it to me.

I was really interested in the new sofia coppola film, but I’ve heard really bad things about it. nobody I’ve talked to has liked it so far, which is kind of disappointing. besides, how accurate can the film be if marie antoinette has an american accent? sorry kirsten, but I kinda thought you sold out after ‘interview with a vampire’

I’m interested to see it, just because I think that Sofia Coppola might be able to make the story interesting.

Quinton: Don’t apologize, Kristen is an idiot and an even worse actress than Scarlet Johansen and Jennifer Aiston put together. She’s like the male version Jared Leto.
