From Green Plastic…
this is just a note to say that something has been kicking around in the background that i have not told you about.
its called The Eraser.
nigel produced & arranged it .
i wrote and played it.
the elements have been kicking round now for a few years and needed to be finished & i have been itching to do something like this for ages.
it was fun and quick to do.
inevitably it is more beats & electronics.
but its songs.
stanley did the cover.
yes its a record!
no its not a radiohead record.
as you know the band are now touring and writing new stuff and getting to a good space so i want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah…
this was all done with their blessing. and i don’t wanna hear that word solo. doesnt sound right.
ok then thats that.
i think its out in july and im pretty certain XL are going to put it out.
love thom

I love everything that Bjork puts out, but it doesn’t seem like that there’s not going to be anything new being put out on “Surrounded” - just the old stuff remastered. I have her other box set, the live one, and its awesome. That was a really nice addition to my collection.
Bjork can do no wrong by me. But if I’m gonna spend more than a $100 for a box set, it should have something new or something I don’t have yet.

The next best thing is to check them out live on NPR. It’s good.

From Pitchfork…
Tonight on the season finale of the WB’s “Gilmore Girls”, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, along with their daughter Coco, will perform “What a Waste”, from the new Sonic Youth album, Rather Ripped, due out June 13. Yo La Tengo, Sparks, Joe Pernice, and Sam Phillips will also appear. Some people think “Gilmore Girls” is the best TV show ever, and we aren’t going to argue.

I just read on Ultragrrrl that the first single of Muse’s “Supermassive Black Hole” leaked on the internet this weekend.
You can listen to it here.
People are already making comparisons to Britney Spears’ “Do Somethin”. Someone mashed the two songs together, and I must admit they mash perfectly. Almost too perfectly.
Listen to the mashup here.

From You Ain’t No Picasso…
We Are Scientists performed on BBC 1 yesterday and rocked the house as usual. But the unusual bit is that they did it by foregoing their normal electric onslaught. Our boys did a completely reworked version of their hit “Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt and threw in a Sigur Ros cover to boot.
MP3: We Are Scientists - Hoppipolla (Sigur Ros, live on BBC)
MP3: We Are Scientists - Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt (live on BBC)
I’ve never heard anyone even try to attempt a Sigur Ros cover. They did it acoustic! Its awesome.

I just read in NME…
Muse have revealed the title for their upcoming fourth studio album.
The band have named the record ‘Black Holes And Revelations’ and announced that it will hit the shops on July 3.
Singer Matt Bellamy told NME.COM: “I was going out dancing in clubs around New York. That helped create tracks like ‘Supermassive Black Hole’. Franz (Ferdinand) have done it very well, with that dance type beat going on mixed with alternative guitar and I’ve always wanted to find that.”
