Sigur Ros is coming back to Australia!

December 5th, 2005 . by Quinton

My wish has come true. Sigur Ros have extended their touring schedule to include a second trip through Australia and New Zealand early next year. They’re going to be in Japan in early April, and they figured since they were in the hemisphere they might as well drop down again. I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it.

Here are the dates:
april 09 • west coast blues & roots festival, perth, au
april 11 • the palais, melbourne, au
april 12 • the enmore, sydney, au
april 15 • the tivoli, brisbane, au
april 17 • st james, auckland, nz

No news on when tickets will be available just yet. I’ll keep you updated, or you can check out the Sigur Ros tour page.

And for your dining pleasure, the Sigur Ros show in Reykjavik from last week is available to download here. Even if you’ve seen them before, I recommend you check it out. The band said it was the best show they played all year.

It’s good to hear from you. I’m so excited to see Sigur Ros because I just saw them a couple of months ago, and now it’s in another country.

It’s also a good chance for people who weren’t too familiar with them before to catch them on their second tour of Australia. Ticket prices here are ridiculous. The Mars Volta are playing here at the end of January for $68 plus fees! So if you’ve never heard of Sigur Ros, you can’t really afford it. But after their first tour was so successful, the hype here in Australia is crazy for them.

I’m still debating if I should get tickets for The Mars Volta. I’ve never seen them before, and I’d like to. But that’s aholelatta money to hang out with a crowd of kids who wear tight jeans.

Tickets go on sale for Sigur Ros at the Enmore on Thursday, December 15th at 9am. you can get tickets thru the Enmore Box office (02) 9950 3666, or thru http://www.ticketek.com. The ticket price is ‘to be announced’

i miss the old days when music festivals were $40 and other shows were $20. i think i ought to try to scab more free tickets off of people. they owe me.
i can’t believe the mars volta is $70! if its at the metro i might be able to get some freebies, but i bet its at the entertainment centre or some other nonsense venue. it’s all bollocks.

the mars volta show is at the Enmore. I’ve never been there, but Anna K saw Sigur Ros there once before. she said it was perfect.

You kids are just spoiled!!! That’s just a normal price we have to pay to see international bands. And we were so happy when Sigur Rós was only 3800kr (around $60) and if you wanted seats tickets it was 4500kr (around $70) but usually we pay around $70-$80 just for standing tickets. So yes i would pay $70 for seeing Mars Volta!! Just feel lucky that you actually get to see great bands like that all the time…

Sandra: Actually we’re the spoiled ones. The only time we ever have to pay those amounts for tickets is when Bjork rolls around.

Quinton: Paying money to hang around kids with second skin jeans is an investment that will always keep giving. They way I see it, I gave you enough freebies.

The Mars Volta has lost they’re minds to think they can charge that much for a show. Still you really should see them atleast once.

Or you should see Mars Volta, if you’re missing Eman : )

ha. ha ha ha ha… manni, mars volta
4azoni: u should go see them, i hear there really fun to dance to and they pump the crowd up.. i should go see them to. but then i see manni more than most.
its good to see are having a blast. hahaha smelling girls. anywho.. hope all is well.
sandra: u guys do spend too much $ on tickets. but it cool i guess.
u know what u guys should do is, u guys should throw ur own concerts in ur backyards (decorations @ some .99 store) and kidnapp the bands in the airport.. promblem solved. sure why not. it could happen

Cindy: Great idea you little sprite you. Since you mention it I have this plan to kidnap Hope Sandoval, I’m going to need some discreet help. Up for it?

jorge: i’m totally up for it!!!

horay! horay! We got tickets for Sigur Ros. Actually, we got front row tickets. I’m even more excited than ever. They haven’t sold out just yet, but I’m sure they will by the end of the weekend.

The Mars Volta sold out four days after tickets went on sale. I don’t think I could’ve afforded it anyways.

Qui - Front row at Enmore is good, apart from the fact that you have the whole general admission crowd standing pretty much right in front of you. but hey, you’re about twice the size of me, so excitement.

i’m thinking more along the lines of giving Mr W Oldham some summer lovin’.

heard oldham is playing 18, 19 Feb at Newtown. apparently he’s doing this touring/camping trip.
you could invite him to squat on your front lawn for a while.
